Realtors® and homeowners alike are using Twitter and Facebook to advertise their homes. Even homeowners who are using a Realtor to sell their home can beef up their presence on the internet by using social networking sites. Be sure, however, to consult with your Realtor so the marketing campaign is clear and all follow-up contacts are forwarded to the Realtor.
So what are some tips for using these sites and not turning off your followers on Twitter or your friends on Facebook?
Don’t make every entry about the homes you have for sale. Mix up home sale information with your own personal messages. You don’t want your friends thinking you are spamming them with unsolicited advertising.
When making an entry, include interesting information or some type of “sell” copy, such as $10,000 off this home if you respond in the next two hours.
Upload a video about a nice home for sale that you can post on Facebook or You Tube. I’ve seen a number of homes advertised in this manner by individual owners and Realtors. It can’t hurt. Make the video short—about two minutes and interesting. Check our existing videos on You Tube by typing in “homes for sale” in the search link.
Try blogging about your home through Blogger.com. It’s very simple to set up a blog, and you can make as many entries as you want about the homes you have for sale. Again, make the entries interesting—you can upload photos and tell an interesting story about the home, especially if it might peak the interest of a potential buyer.
Posting new and creative information online about your home for sale can be time consuming. Post similar copy about the home on each site as you’re probably drawing different audiences.
If you are unfamiliar with Twitter or Facebook that’s okay as we all were new to this form of interaction at some point. Check the links below to help you begin navigating the wonderful world of social networking.
