The tragic Gulf Oil Spill which is located off the coast of Louisiana has not affected west coast Florida beaches whatsoever. We have not seen one spot of oil in Pinellas County and all counties up and down the west coast. There have been reports of oil in Pensacola, but that is in north Florida, more than 450 miles or an eight-hour drive from our location.
To view the oil spill and where it has been located since its inception on May 7, click on this link. One will see that at no time has the spill been close to the west coast of Florida.
To check out our beaches, view a live webcam located at the Tradewinds Hotel, St. Pete Beach.
So, if you were staying away from Pinellas County, now is the time to visit before everyone realizes that our beaches are big, white and beautiful and have never had any oil damage! In addition, it's a great time to buy a home or condo as prices have never been lower. Live the dream!
